Imaginary Picnic by Nirrimi Hakanson

Another great video filmed by Nirrimi. This is a visual inspiration for colour starved eyes. The video has a very soft appeal and looking at it made me feel that every movement was an image in the making.
This was her vey first filmwhere she used her lovely 5d mark ii and a 50mm. She express the way that she is finally happy to have a film camera!

"...i want to film a long series of beautiful moments (real and imagined)..."

Colours Say A lot about an Image....

Fashion Editorial Photography

Fashion Editorial Photography

Fashion photography is a genre of photography that is devoted towards displaying clothing and other fashion items in a photograph. Fashion photography is usually conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines it is another marketing strategy of the audience viewing your brand in another way.

My ideas came from my own heritage of being African, researching different magazines and online sources. I choose to photograph fashion because I had influential ideas for the assignment of what I could incorporate in my shoot and what I knew would work. I made it mandatory that everything was included from head downwards which was long shot. I included different poses and emotions that would make it very appealing. I combined make-up and hair looking both African and modern at the same time. I used jewellery where it was needed and hair styles that I thought would suit them.

Ideas

My very own version of Beauty Editorial Photography

...fierce looking straight directly at the camera with modern and African clothing...
...African princess walking into the shot....
...In the modern style wearing an African vibrant Printed dress...

My advantages of the fashion photography were being able to dress and style the models in the way that I wanted them to look like, arranging makeup and vibrating their faces in different mixtures of colours, Being able to use the lighting in the studio and working out were the lighting is best positioned.

Beauty photography deals with the cosmetic industry and revolves around the skin and hair. The main focus in beauty is the shoulder upwards of the body.

My ideas came from researching different magazines, looking at adverts that commercialise beauty products and looking at different cosmetic advertisements online.
The makeup was an important factor of the shoot and was done by a professional make-up artist who has gained experience through the fashion industry and with her creative ability she was able to use her own innovative appeal to bring a different appearance to each of my models.

Ideas

...A girl posed in a rule of thirds shot with African print make up on her face...

...close up of girl's face with golden highlighted makeup....

...Tribal art tattoo painted on...posed seriously using the rule of thirds shot...

...smiles of an innocent girl with soft make up...

The advantages of shooting for beauty photography is being able to focus only in the pose of the face and shoulders, using different make up ideas that will give the image perspective and a different appearance and using different photographic techniques.
